This app helps students check and properly report their experimental results after completing the calculations. Enter the measured value, its error, the standard value, and the required number of digits. The app shows the result in the appropriate reporting format and graphically compares the measured value ± error with the standard value.
Measured Value: Enter the value obtained from the experiment.
Error: Enter the estimated error or uncertainty in the measured value.
Standard Value: Enter the expected or standard value for comparison.
Digits Needed: Select the number of digits to be used for reporting.
Decimal Places: Report the value and error to the selected number of decimal places.
Significant Figures: Report the value and error using the selected number of significant figures.
Physics Convention: Report the result using the standard laboratory convention, where the error determines the precision of the reported value.
Calculate: Calculate and display the result in the selected reporting format.
The graph shows the standard value together with the measured value ± error, allowing you to visually check whether the experimental result is consistent with the expected value.
The app also gives a message indicating whether the measured value ± error includes the standard value. If it does not, the app suggests checking the readings and calculations and, if necessary, repeating the experiment.
