Dr. Shyamal Biswas

I work on Statistical Mechanics and General Physics (Theory), in particular, Quantum Statistical Mechanics, Bose-Einstein Condensation, Ultra-cold Quantum Gases, Quantum Scattering, Cavity QED, Casimir Effect, Magnetism, etc.

My research methodology is analytical. I have 28 research publications in reputed international journals with an average impact factor 2+ and I guided 2 PhD (Physics) scholars so far.

I have been teaching postgraduate courses (such as Mathematical Methods-I & II, Classical Mechanics, Electromagnetic Theory-I & II, Quantum Mechanics-I & II, Statistical Mechanics, Many-Body Theory, etc) as an Assistant/Associate Professor at the School of Physics, University of Hyderabad, India since 06 December 2013.

Previously, I worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow for about 5 years in a number of institutes including IIT-Kanpur (2013), University of Calcutta (2010-13), and Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (2009-10). Prof Jayanta Kumar Bhattacharjee was my PhD guide at the IACS, Kolkata during the years 2003-09.

I grew up and studied in greater Culcutta where I took birth in 1980.
